The water in Diablo Lake gets its distinctive turquoise green color from rock particles that make their way into the lake’s water as ice and snowmelt erode rock on the surrounding mountains.  Rock particles reflect mostly green light , whereas water tends to reflect mostly blue light, combining to reflect Diablo Lake’s stunning teal color.
